eshly family
eshly. Prize-winning design that grows on trees.
Some things require time before they can reach their full potential. It is a law of nature. We called upon nature for the fine solid ash wood used to make eshly and created a range of practical and sustainable multifunctional containers and accessories that embrace utility and beauty in design for everyday use. eshly is the brainchild of Industrial Designer Britta Knüppel, who received the German Design Award 2016 and the European Product Design Award 2017 in the category “Household”.
What is eshly?
eshly is a growing family tree of coordinated products that transforms practicality in the kitchen to style in the dining room, brings an elegant touch to the living room and enhances many other areas of daily life. eshly can be purchased individually or in sets in a variety of sizes and is perfect for preparing and presenting fine foods or storing special items – multifunctionality and versatility guaranteed. The stackable containers are sophisticated lightweights, which save space and inspire your creativity. Their utility and style at home promise pure convenience once you are on the go: at an outing, in the office, at school or kindergarten. eshly is the household favorite that goes everywhere.
Why is eshly made of ash wood?
eshly is exclusively Made in Germany. This begins with the material we use. Ash trees, grown in naturally cultivated German forests. The tree produces wood that is lightweight, resilient, hygienic and sturdy. Its natural antibacterial properties eliminate trapped moisture and prevent the formation of mold. Unlike some materials, it contains no harmful substances and does not affect flavor, which makes it perfect for use with foods. Eco-friendly processing creates products that are naturally treated and use no bonding materials, making them completely biodegradable – which is also the case for the eshly packaging.
How is eshly produced?
We combine timeless design, innovative industrial precision, meticulous craftsmanship and add plenty of patience. After the selected trees are felled, they are left in the forest for six months to age – this allows them to retain all of their beneficial properties. They are then air-dried for a substantial period of time. This relieves the wood of tension and makes it possible to give each eshly its ideal form. Now many individual production steps follow. These include applying the additive-free plant oils by hand. This ecological awareness is as much a part of eshly as the sustainable production processes that create no waste, are chemical-free and make use of short transport routes. What’s good for nature is good for eshly. And brings joy to eshly users each and every day.
